The Impact of Obstacles of Sustainable Development on Education Quality - An Analytical Study on the Southern Governorates of Palestine

Abstract

The study aimed to reveal the impact that obstacles to sustainable development have on the quality of education in Palestine and to reveal the degree to which there are statistically significant differences in the responses of sample members to the impact of obstacles to sustainable development on the quality of education due to the variables (gender, current job, academic qualification). The study used the descriptive approach. Analytical. The researchers built a questionnaire that measured the impact of obstacles to sustainable development on the quality of education, and it was divided into four axes (economic, social, political, and environmental obstacles). The results of the study showed that obstacles to sustainable development (economic, political, social, and environmental) greatly affect the quality of education in Palestine. The study showed that there are no statistically significant differences between the responses of the study sample due to the variable of gender, age group, and employment status in all aspects of the questionnaire and in the total score. It also showed that there are statistically significant differences between the responses of the study sample members due to the variable of academic qualification in all aspects of the questionnaire and the total score. With the exception of the first axis (economic obstacles) for the benefit of the category of holders of master’s degrees and above, the results showed that the obstacles that most influence the quality of study are the social obstacles, which came in first place, then the political obstacles, then the economic obstacles, and finally the environmental obstacles. The study also recommended ending the dependency of the Palestinian economy on the economy. Zionism, as it is the greatest influence on the quality of education in the context of economic obstacles. The study also recommended the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities in ending the occupation and extending Palestinian sovereignty over natural resources, which greatly affects the availability of the necessary resources to improve education.
